October 21, 2024
5:30pm-7:00pm
St. Matthew’s Centre
54 Benton Street, Kitchener, N2G 3H2
Audience participation is welcome and encouraged!
Who are the choirs?
This performance features KW Sentro’s Children’s and Adult Choirs singing music that originates from places that have been touched and altered by colonialism.
What story are we telling?
We ask the question, amidst the climate of ongoing settler colonialism around the world and at home, what does it mean to be Filipino Canadian given our history of 400 years of colonization by the Spanish, Japanese, and Americans? How much have we forgotten? How much do/can we (re)member?
A Choral Improvisation Workshop led by Dr. Gerard Yun
What is Improvisation? It is the musical practice of creating music spontaneously around a given theme. Dr. Yun will guide us to improvise around music from the Philippines, Malaysia, Turtle Island, and South Africa.
Parking
There is available parking onsite at St. Matthew’s at 54 Benton Street. There is also a paid parking garage across the street at Charles and Benton.
